Best Time to Post on TikTok, Measured

Between 14:00 and 22:00 UTC (10 AM–6 PM US Eastern), with the peak at 17:00 UTC (1 PM ET). In our measurement of 49,189 TikTok videos, posts in that peak hour reached a median of 1,383 views in their first 24 hours versus 693 for the worst hour — a 2.0x gap. 21.8% of peak-hour posts passed 10,000 views in a day, versus 12.9% in the trough.

The hourly pattern holds on every day of the week: 14:00–22:00 UTC (10 AM–6 PM ET) outperforms the overnight-UTC trough on all seven days. Day-to-day differences exist but are smaller — about 17% between the best day (Sunday) and the weakest (Tuesday). So the answer for today is the same window; check the per-day pages for the exact block that leads on each weekday.

The 02:00–13:00 UTC stretch, bottoming out at 12:00 UTC (8 AM ET) — median 693 first-day views, and only 12.9% of videos passing 10,000 views. That window is late night through early morning for US audiences, when the For You feed has the fewest active viewers to test your video on.

Sunday (median 1,159 first-day views) and Monday (1,148) lead; Tuesday and Wednesday trail at 987 and 993. The spread between best and worst day is about 17% — real, but much smaller than the 2x hourly effect. Pick the right hour first, then the right day.

It matters less than your hook and more than zero. Posting time moves your first-day median by up to 2.0x — a free optimization you should take. But the top 1% of videos in our dataset pull roughly 123x the median, and that gap is decided by hook strength and completion rate, not the clock. Fix retention first; then stop donating views by posting into the trough.

All measurements are in UTC, with US Eastern (daylight) shown for convenience. We measure when videos were posted and how they performed — TikTok does not expose where each audience lives, and any tool that claims to know your personal golden hour without your analytics is guessing. If your audience is mostly in one country, shift the windows to that timezone and test.

We track TikTok videos surfaced by keyword search across creator niches and snapshot their view counts over time. For each of 49,189 videos posted 2026-03-15 to 2026-07-09, we interpolate views at exactly 24 hours of age from the two snapshots around that mark, then compare medians by posting hour and weekday. Interpolation on a concave growth curve under-counts peak-hour posts, so the published gaps are conservative. The dataset refreshes every two weeks.

Probably, and we will not pretend to know yet. Our per-niche samples are still too small for honest day-by-hour claims (the largest, Beauty and Makeup, has 870 measured videos). What we can say: median first-day views differ sharply by niche, so your baseline matters more than your clock.
